Twitter

Bit confused by Twitter. I've registered and added a few folkies to follow (difficult to know who is really out there - quite a few obsessives by thier own admission). Perhaps that means I'll get notified to my email when Joni, Kate, Seth or some other folkie site adds a feed? I'll wait and see. In the meantime I'm going to get some real work done (tomorrow!). Janet.
The next step in 23 things is to open a twitter account and sign up fo RSS feeds. I'm finding this very time consuming (it's almost a full time job in itself) so have decided that I'll contribute to an existing twitter (not sure about the RSS feeds yet). Watch this space - I'll tell you how it goes! Janet.

23 things 3

Well, I'm onto my 3rd part of the 23 things training (it's slow progress). I've googled my name and county and found lots of links to my name. Almost all are related to events in Derbyshire Libraries so that's good - it's an image I don't mind being portrayed of me; also as (new) committee member of the East Midlands branch of CILIP. I'm glad that the entry "personal information about people called Janet Scott" doesn't actually come up with anything at all!
I don't know about anyone else but doing this training makes me feel like I'm skiving (which is why i'm not doing that much - also having the time when I'm so busy at work with other things) even though I have approval from my manager - is this a common problem?

Well Dressing in Derbyshire

We were clog dancing at Cutthorpe and Heath (both in Derbyshire) on Saturday at their Well Dressing celebrations. I think this tradition is unique to Derbyshire (well it certainly originated in Derbyshire) but other places may now have adopted it - the purpose was originally to give thanks for the water which brought a good crop and sustained life. Very simplistic explanation but dancing (in clogs or not!) was one of the ways to celebrate this. Good excuse for a party now (as ever I suspect). Our team is Chesterfield Garland Dancers and we have a website and flickr site, links below:

We'd just arrived in Heath when we heard an almighty roaring sound and to my great amazement and excitement a Lancaster bomber passed directly above us. It's the first time I've seen one for real in the air (I think there's only one still airborne) but my husband is a great Lancaster follower so I've heard plenty about them - hence the excitement. I'm sure this wasn't a flypast to celebrate Heath Well Dressings, but I think we were in the right place at the right time as it flew from one event to another. Anyway, I enjoyed that!

Clog dancing at Ashford

Well I'm starting to get the hang of this, that is I've now discovered how to add a new post (I'd lost my dashboard!). What I really need to do now is start talking about something slightly interesting which may not be easy as my interests may not be everyone else's!
I'm a clog dancer and dance with Chesterfield Garland Dancers - link to website below:

We're dancing at the Ashford Arms at Ashford in the Water (beautiful part of Derbyshire) tonight. It's the village well dressing celebration and we go along to entertain the crowds (well we once had a coach load there!). It's a lovely pub and the beer's good - can't remember what the beer is now though. I'll let you know tomorrow if it was any good (the beer not the dancing).

New to blogging

Hello to everyone. I'm completely new to blogging (as I suspect some of you will be too). I have some social networking experience such as faceboook and flickr but have never blogged. I'm taking part in the cpd23 to learn more and become familiar with other aspects of social networking.
